We are excited to re-highlight Evocation Micro-Coffee Roastery from Amarillo, Texas. This is the second coffee we have had from them and we cannot wait to make it available for our subscribers. The last coffee we had from them was the Kenya Kiruga, which wowed us all back in December of 2014. This year we are featuring their Colombia, Cauca La Estrella, and we think you will agree that they have knocked it out of the park again! This Colombian is very dynamic with a lot of fruit-forwardness and cane sugar sweetness.
Varietal: Caturra, Colombia
Elevation: 1600-1800 meters above sea level
Region: La Estrella, Caloto, Cauca
Process: Fully Washed
Tasting Notes: Tropical, Coriander, Sugary
The Colombia La Estrella Las Colinas was selected as a part of a live auction that Cafe Imports (a great coffee importer company) hosts called, "Best of Cauca." The value of this auction is that farmers are able to sell directly to roasters and importers, thereby circumventing traditional local markets. The coffee is sold by lots, so farmers get to highlight the coffee that is the cream of their crop. This particular coffee is from the farm of Santiago Fernandez who grows coffee in La Estrella: it is super fruit forward, sweet and juicy.
