Our coffee for the month of July is about to hit mailboxes and we couldn't be more psyched to tell you about it. This month we are featuring a bean from Peru that is roasted by Luck Bros' Coffee in Grandview Heights, Ohio (Columbus).
About the Bean

Location: Cajamarca, sector Piura
Elevation: 1700-2000 masl
Farm size: 11 hectares in coffee
Varietal: Typica, Bourbon, Caturra
The estate is managed by the second and third generations of the Garcia family, who have worked since 1980 when production was about 6 qq per hectare. The family works with the mission of producing quality coffee with a sustainable yield of 35 qq per hectare, maintaining environmentally friendly agricultural practices. The focus on sustainable farming had allowed the family to reinvest in the farm and improve their mill and ability to pay workers a higher wage.
Luck Bros' Coffee has been in business since 2006. They started roasting their own coffee in 2010 and installed their current roaster, a Giesen W6, in 2012. Their core principles include sustainable practices, continual learning, constant training, have passion for what you do, do what you love, and to always find a way to improve. They are also selective in their business partners and seek out business partners with similar values - particularly sustainable practices.
